A month ago today we said goodbye to the Ontario we called home
Standing on the road that leads into our building. We're in the building on the left, our complex includes all of the buildings on that side of the photo. The inukshuk that marks the entrance to the parking area is dead ahead, to the right there are the pretty colorful buildings that've been in a few photos already and in the distance you can see the Con Mine tower- kinda looks like a little red dot. Tin Can Hill is in the background across the photo.
It is COLD. And it's not even properly cold yet, lol. It's around -10 with a windchill that's got our temperature hovering around -16 today.... and R's decided that today's the day he's going to fix the truck. Well, not really. He installed something called a battery pad under his battery- it's basically a hard core heating pad that helps keep your battery from freezing, yeah that's actually a concern up here. That, along with replacing the interior plastic bits and pieces that were removed for a good post road trip deep cleaning, meant that I was standing around out in said cold for around 10 minutes... R was out for probably a good hour in total. Eesh.
A month ago today we left the part of Ontario that we called home and started our crazy road trip north. Already we've seen and done things that a lot of people never see or do and I imagine that list will only get longer. I can officially say that I had a legitimate reason to crack out the winter boots in October... not really sure how I feel about that. We went to a friend's house for a superhero themed birthday party last night... met a few new interesting people which is always fun, especially when you're in a new place. It was nice to be able to ask all sorts of questions about activities and classes, apparently there are quite a few guilds up here... I'm particularly interested in a pottery guild that was mentioned a few times. Overall though, people up here seem to be very friendly and more than happy to share any advice they feel we need. Oh! Nearly forgot! For R's birthday dinner we went out for dinner (I think I'd mentioned that in my last post). We went for sushi and I must say, I would have been happy with this particular place in Toronto, let alone here. The flavours and textures were excellent and the meal itself was delicious. We both agreed that we'd have to go back. |
